J. Kevin Lundholm has maintained an active litigation practice since his admission to the bar in 1985. Prior to joining the firm, Kevin practiced in Cleveland, Ohio for approximately five years. He was employed as a litigation attorney with the Sherwin Williams Company and as an associate with Gallagher, Sharp, Fulton & Norman.
In October, 1999, Mr. Lundholm became board certified in Civil Trial Advocacy by the National Board of Trial Advocacy in Boston, Massachusetts. In order to achieve this board certification, Kevin had to demonstrate substantial trial experience, obtain recommendations from judges and opposing counsel, complete extensive continuing legal education requirements, and pass a day-long written examination.
Mr. Lundholm received mediation training in January, 2001, at the Private Adjudication Center, Duke University. He represents clients in mediations and has served as a mediator as well.
In 2007, Kevin served as lead trial counsel for the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District at the confirmation hearing of a $210,000,000 assessment. The 18 judge panel of the Conservancy Court confirmed the award, which was later upheld after a series of appeals.
Mr. Lundholm also maintains an appellate practice. Over the years, he successfully has argued a wide variety of appeals: Ford Hull-Mar v. MKC, Jefferson Co. 2000 (affirming arbitration award); State Farm v. Travelers, Muskingum Co. 2002 (insurance coverage); GGJ v. Tuscarawas County, Tuscarawas Co. 2006 (upholding directed verdict); Tucker v. Huff, Harrison Co. 2008 (employer intentional tort); MWCD v. Kellar, Tuscarawas Co. 2011 (affirming 60(B) ruling); and Ganz v. Ganz, Tuscarawas Co. 2012 (division of retirement benefits).
In 2012, Kevin became board certified in Civil Pretrial Advocacy by the National Board of Legal Specialty Certification.
Kevin attended Blackburn College in Carlinville, Illinois, where he received a B.A. Magna Cum Laude in 1982. He graduated Cum Laude with a Juris Doctor degree from The University of Toledo in Toledo, Ohio in 1985. He is a member of the Tuscarawas County Bar Association and the Ohio State Bar Association.
Kevin resides in New Philadelphia, Ohio, with his wife, Letty. He has two sons, Ian (married to Kristy, granddaughter Emma) and Sean. Ian is in a Ph.D. Program at Washington State University and Sean is a nurse at the NICU at Akron Children's Hospital. Kevin enjoys hunting and competing with his Plott Hounds, Mel and Mavis.
Kevin's community service has included YMCA (Youth Sports Coach), Lutheran Brotherhood (Branch President), Ohio High School Mock Trial Competition (Judge), Webelo Leader, Instructor in Business Law and Ethics at the Kent State University - Tuscarawas Campus, and board member of the New Phila Youth Soccer Association. He is the former secretary of the National Plott Hound Association. Kevin serves as a Trustee for the Garcia Foundation and Haman Family Charitable Foundation, and as a member of the Community Relations Committee at Union Hospital. Kevin is an active member of the New Philadelphia First Church of the Nazarene.
